IT’S COFFEE O’CLOCK
Coffee Importers
Located in Dana Point Harbor, Coffee Importers is a local coffee and brunch spot that has been owned and operated by the Miller family since 1979. It was originally conceived as a harborside outdoor coffee house with the charming ambiance of a European cafe. Over the years it has grown so popular that the espresso bar had to be moved next door which is where you’ll find the extensive menu of specialty coffee drinks and teas. Inside the glass cases, a multitude of breakfast treats await. If you’re craving something really sweet, the “Scoop Deck” part of the shop features delicious ice cream in a variety of flavors. Abundant outdoor seating at both spots makes for a charming setting along the harbor’s edge to enjoy the sights and sounds of this waterfront gem.
GOOD IDEAS START WITH COFFEE
Bear Coast Coffee
This stylish and coastal coffee destination is busy at all times of the day and we know why! With their irresistible house-roasted coffee beans and brunchy bites, Bear Coast Coffee is a dream come true for every coffee enthusiast. With two locations in Dana Point - one in La Plaza where the Saturday farmer’s market is held, and one in the new Del Prado district, Bear Coast is a specialty coffee roaster in South Orange County who makes all sauces and flavorings in-house. Speaking of flavorings, how does lavender-infused caramel, nutmeg-accented vanilla and dark chocolate ganache sound? In addition they make fresh Almond Milk EVERY SINGLE DAY. Bear Coast is adamant about hiring locals from the community and they are proud to declare that they hire “awesome people.” Awesome people, awesome coffee. It’s a win-win.
BUT FIRST, COFFEE!
Maison Café + Market
Drop your surfboard off and head on over to brunch at Maison Café + Market. Newly opened in its updated and revamped location, Maison straddles the corner of Del Prado and Amber Lantern. It’s a bustling spot which is perfect for this perennial favorite. With a robust assortment of coffee and tea brews, Maison is a European café lover’s paradise. Open at 8am every morning, minus Sunday when they open one hour earlier, Maison specializes in nuanced coffee blends and French-inspired decadent breakfast plates like roasted root scrambles and piping hot Dutch pancakes. A multitude of outdoor seating makes for an enjoyable morning, but the quiet morning hours make for a great time to come in for a hot beverage before the city has truly woken up.
STAY GROUNDED
Moulin
Right near Salt Creek Beach, on PCH, Moulin serves up some of the best crêpes in all of Orange County and, of course, café au laits! This french themed bistro is well known amongst Dana Point locals for its scrumptious plates like Le Croque Monsieur and Nutella Crêpes. With vintage French posters from wall to wall, there is no better last-minute escape to France than visiting Moulin for a latte. They are famous for their almond croissants, so definitely try one out if you’re craving a sweet treat. Start your morning at Moulin and then stretch your legs with a walk over to Salt Creek for some fresh ocean air. We’ll see you there!
